How does innoviation drive growth? What are the main obstacles to innovation in Europe? A former vice-chancellor shares his thoughts
A brief summary of our second HOT TOPIC of the Autumn Semester 2025
On Tuesday, November 11, we had the pleasure of hosting an event with Mr. Philipp Rösler.
Mr. Rösler gave a short speech on how innovation and growth are closely interconnected. Afterwards, there was a lively exchange between the students and Mr. Rösler, who spoke about his experience as Germany’s Vice Chancellor, the insight dynamics of the Merkel government, and the main economic challenges we are currently facing.
The former minister also discussed with the students how a ministry works and what qualities are essential for a leader. The conversation touched on several critical topics such as Germany’s nuclear phase-out, the energy crisis, and Europe’s slow adoption of new technologies.
After the session, students had the chance to enjoy some food and drinks during the traditional Ad-Hoc Economics post-event aperitivo, a convivial moment where participants could continue the discussion informally.
As Ad-Hoc Economics, we would like to thank Mr. Rösler for his availability, as well as Prof. Koeniger and Regina Cellere for their support in organizing the event.
Stay tuned for new events in the HOT TOPIC series!
